Poha/Flakes/Aval is very versatile. A variety of tasty and healthy dishes can be easily prepared with this. I have already shared many sweet as well as savoury dishes using millet poha. This recipe is for tomato lovers! Try this dish easy dish using millet poha of your choice.
Ingredients:
- 2 Cups Millet Poha/Flakes/Aval
- 2 Medium Size Tomatoes Chopped Finely
- 1/4 up Chopped Onion
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Sambar Powder
- 1/2 Tsp Chilli Powder
- 1/4 Tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 Tbsp Cooking Oil
- 2 Slit Green Chillies
- 2 Tbsp Raw Peanuts
- 1 Bay Leaf
- 1/2 Tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/2 Tsp Urad Dal
- 1/2 Tsp Chana Dal
- 1/8 Tsp Asafoetida Powder
- Some Curry Leaves and Coriander Leaves
Directions:
- Wash and drain the poha completely. Keep aside.
- Heat a pan and add oil. When ready, add peanuts and roast till they are done. Remove. Now add mustard seeds, dals, asafoetida powder, chillies, bay leaf and curry leaves in the same order.
- Once done, add onions and fry till they become translucent. Now, add chopped tomatoes followed by turmeric, chilli and sambar powders. Give a good mix. Add salt and let it cook for 2 to 3 minutes till it becomes mushy and oil separates.
- Add the drained poha and give a good mix on low heat for two minutes. Finally add roasted peanuts and coriander leaves. Keep covered for 5 minutes.
- Spicy, tangy, tasty tomato poha is ready. Serve warm.
