A variety of dishes can be prepared with vermicelli. This breakfast dish gets ready in 10 minutes. The main ingredient of this recipe is pulikachal which is spiced tamarind paste. Generally Puliyodharai/puliohara is made with rice. Try this tangy spicy recipe with any millet vermicelli.
Ingredients:
- 1 Packet of Millet Vermicelli
- 3 Tbsp Pulikachal/Puliyodharai Rice mix
- 1 Tsp Oil
- 1/2 Tsp Salt
- 2 Tbsp Sesame Oil
- 1/2 Tsp Mustard Seeds
- 1/8 Tsp Asafoetida Powder
- a Few Curry Leaves
Directions:
- Wash and drain the vermicelli. Add salt and oil.
- Steam the hydrated vermicelli for 5 minutes or using a steamer stand cook for a whistle and release pressure immediately. Please check the video for clear understanding. Allow it to cool down completely.
- On medium heat, in a pan add sesame oil and do the seasoning. Keeping the heat on low add pulikachal and mix well with the seasoning.
- Now add the cooked and cooled vermicelli and mix thoroughly. Turn off heat. Spicy tangy puliyohara vermicelli is ready!
Note:
- Any millet vermicelli can be used for this recipe.
- Make sure not to over soak the vermicelli. Just wash it under running water so that they are hyderated.
