Cooks in: 15 Minutes Serves: 4 People

Festival Greetings to all ! After a long break due to relocation and son's marriage, I have come back with an easy modhak recipe with millet poha/flakes/aval for the coming Ganesh Chathurthi festival. Children would love these healthy version as it has chocolate flavour in it! It can be easily made as vegan version too by using coconut oil instead of ghee. Try this tasty and healthy recipe for the upcoming festival.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Cup Millet Flakes Powder/ Powdered Poha or Aval
  • 1 Cup Thick Coconut Milk
  • 1/2 Cup Jaggery Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • 2 Tbsp Unsweetened Cocoa Powder
  • 1 Tbsp Ghee/Coconut Oil
  • 1/2 Tsp Cardamom Powder

Directions:

  1. Dry roast poha/flakes for 2 minutes and make fine powder. Measure a cup of that powder.
  2. On medium flame, heat a pan and add coconut milk. After a minute, add powdered poha and cook. When it absorbs the milk, add water and cook further.
  3. After cooking for 1 to 2 minutes, it will thicken. At this stage, add jaggery powder and cook further. Add coco powder and ghee. Mix well till it turns shiny and becomes a mass. Add cardamom powder. Turn off heat.
  4. Allow it to cool down for 15 minutes. Grease a modhak mould and make modhaks with the cooked poha mixture. Cool and serve.

Note:

  • Any millet flakes can be used for this recipe.
  • If the coconut milk is thin, then reduce the water quantity.
